Course Descriptions

Course Description:

Sixth Grade Choir: This choir is for all those students who enter the sixth grade. This class requires a desire to sing, learn, and read music. There should be a heavy interest in improving one’s ability to sing and perform. Anything less, should probably deem looking for a more suitable elective. Performances are a requirement of the choir program.

Beginning Treble Choir: Otherwise known as the “Girlfriend” choir, this class is for females who are in the 7th and 8th grade and who have auditioned through the director. Girls who have never sung before belong here. Excludes all males.

Tenor/ Bass Chorus: Otherwise known as the “Guys” Choir, this class is for males who are in 7th and 8th grade and who have auditioned through the director. Students who have already had one full year of music education-choir, band, or orchestra may join this choir. Excludes all females.

Varsity Treble Choir: Otherwise known as Bel Canto Chorale. This choir is an auditioned group of young ladies with one or more years of music-band, choir or orchestra. This student is not afraid to sing, has strong music reading, hand sign and vocal technique. For 7th and 8th grade girls only. Exceptions are singers who have had quite recently, private instruction from a vocal coach. Excludes all males.
